SUCCESS STORIES

MERRYGOLD

Here's an example of how your support is having an impact. This is Merrygold. She came into the shelter with a laceration on her lip, malnourished, and dehydrated after being stuck up a tree for an unknown amount of time. She was able to get the veterinary care and healing support needed and was then adopted! Thank you for helping make happy stories like this possible!

LAYLA

Poor Layla came into the shelter emaciated and with a terrible skin infection that left her with severe hair loss. To top it off, she is allergic to the chemicals in the shelter and developed painful blisters on her feet that kept her from walking. In foster, she was given medicated baths, antibiotics, and was put on a special diet. We think she’s a happy girl now!

Bobbie

BOBBIE

Bobbie was the runt of her litter. While the rest of her littermates grew quickly, she struggled with a severe URI (Upper Respiratory Infection) and viral infection that affected her eyes. After receiving veterinary care and some extra pampering by several of the shelter's foster homes, she grew into the healthy, beautiful, naughty kitten she was supposed to be. And... was able to keep her sight!

SHEILA

Sweet little Sheila came in with a serious case of parvo. Our vet told us, “We’ll do our best, but she may not make it.” She did pull through, though, and went to a foster where they worked to keep her hydrated and to keep her temperature up. Well, we think Sheila made it out of that mess just fine...she's been adopted and is now at home with her mates!

Pele

PELE

Pele started his misfortunes early in life. This sweet puppy came into the shelter with a broken knee. He went to the vet for X-rays and was referred to Blackford Veterinary Surgery for placement of 2 bars in his knee by a specialist. Well, he got better, and also got really lucky! One of the vet techs at Blackford fell madly in love and he’s living his happy forever after with them!

MELON

Melon had a really tough start. She was found on the side of the road, too young to be weaned and very, very sick. In addition to having an URI (Upper Respiratory Infection) she also had giardia and a skin infection causing her to lose patches of fur. After receiving veterinary care including a week-long boarding and treatment at one of the local vets, she began to heal and grow strong. Now she is living the life of a spoiled princess in her forever home!
